“British Airways is constantly investing in Romania, especially in terms of infrastructure,” he added. BA uses aircraft for some 15 years, with an average 12 flight hours per day - the equivalent of the number of hours for London-Bucharest-London flights.
“Romania is the third country in terms of importance in the region for us, behind Israel and Turkey,” Fornaschon said. The company considered the possibility of operating from other airports besides Bucharest, such as Timisoara and Cluj-Napoca, but no such move will be made in 2009, because “the context is not favorable,” he added.
The company foresees at least 10 percent increase in revenues in Romania. “Growth is double-digit for 2009, lower compared to initial estimates,” according to BA’s Commercial Manager.
