British investors: top buyers and sellers on BVB in January

The value of shares purchased by British investors amounted to some €12 million, 2.34 times lower than the sales level, of some €28 mln.

Net sales by foreign investors on BVB amounted to €53 mln in January, twice as much as the capital inflow on BVB, including to the electronic Rasdaq market.

British investors were followed by investors from the Cayman Islands and Cyprus in the acquisition ranking, while top sellers were investors from the United Kingdom, United States and Austria, according to CNVM data.

The stock market indexes registered a sharp decline in the first month of the year. The BET-C composite index was 22.47 percent lower in December 2007, the BET index of the top 10 traded companies was 23.72 percent lower, while the BET-FI index of the financial investment companies (SIF) plunged 22.43 percent.
