“The Romanian state should have done what the other European states did, namely granting support packages for the local construction industry,” Brodetski told Business Standard.
Lindab, with production units in 19 countries, posted net sales worth over €950 million in 2008, but registered significant declines since the beginning of the fourth quarter of last year: a 12 percent decline at group level in Q4 2008, a 55 percent decline in Central and Eastern Europe and the region of former Soviet countries in the first half of 2009.
According to Brodetski, Romania is in the medium category in terms of the 55 percent decline range for Central and Eastern Europe, similar to most Eastern markets on which Lindab is operating.
