Retailers in Bucharest pay an annual average of €1,560/sqm for commercial space, according to the "Global Retail Destinations" study. The most expensive retail space is in New York (an annual €11,400/sqm), Moscow (€8,000), London (€6,734), Paris (€6,250), and Tokyo (€6,126).

In Central and Eastern Europe, the most expensive city is Prague, ranked 25th in the worldwide study, with an average rent of €2,520/sqm, and it is the only city in the region that is more expensive than Bucharest. In Budapest, Cracow, Warsaw and Belgrade, the average level of yearly rent per square meter is €1,200.
