One of the most recent conditions insisted upon by candidates during an interview is that the company’s headquarters should be in an area with no traffic and close to home.
“Normally, selection criteria anywhere in the world revolve around the company, the wage, and the work environment. However, since 2007, there is a new criterion in Bucharest – traffic,” says Daniela Necefor, Managing Partner of Total Business Solution, a company specialized in recruitment and top management selection.
The traffic criterion affects especially companies who deal with college graduates or entry level job seekers. “Finance and accounting employees, and those unaccustomed with the ‘extensive travelling’ phenomenon, are the first to turn down jobs, regardless of how good these might be,” added Necefor.
Traffic affects the entire business activity of local companies. “Spending four hours a day to get to and from the office affects employee morale and businesses as a whole. Efficiency decreases at least four times a day when you have three business meetings outside the office,” says Radu Georgescu, President of Gecad Group.
