Austrian group Voestalpine plans to build a steel plant in the Black Sea region, worth some €5.5 billion. The company pre-contracted land in the southeastern Agigea area, as Romanaia is one of the possible locations for the plant; Finnish Tornator acquired some 10,000 hectares of forest in Romania, for some €50 million, Bancpost Fond de Pensii pension fund is to be taken over by Interamerican insurer, while Linklaters law firm decided to exit Romania and the region.

The Private Government project was a major undertaking carried initiated by Business Standard, to identify the 10 top major problems in Romania, and inviting the business environment to find feasible solutions for these problems. Some 100 entrepreneurs and managers were involved in the project.

Business Standard also published several case studies: Romania’s largest company, oil giant Petrom, was the subject of a five-analysis series, while the real estate market was analyzed in terms of history, trends and forecasts.
Furthermore, in-depth analyses and interviews with Romania’s leading businesspeople were published on a daily basis in the newapaper’s Leaders&Analyses section.
