Businesspeople ask Government to set investment priorities

The minister said that the current top priority is the Corridor IV road project. “We are presently focusing on the Bucharest-Sibiu and Arad-Timisoara portions, which are already contracted and are being built. However, all portions before Sibiu involve EU funds, and things are moving slowly,” he said. Businesspeople also complained about a lack of legislative coherence.

Berceanu told them that the government decided to establish a commission that is to finalize a draft on the change of the public-private partnership (PPP) law, by April 28. This legislation has been criticized by the business community for lack of transparency. “The good thing about the PPP is that entrepreneurs carry out projects with their own funds and speed up design and construction work, so that they can recover their investments. The key is how much they invest and how long the state allows them to operate to recoup their investment,” according to the President of Deloitte Romania consulting company, George Mucibabici.
