“The local Stock Exchange was once more “nudged” by evolutions registered on The New York Stock Exchange, where several announcements, including that on consumer confidence, generated a dose of optimism. Local news, such as the slight decline in lending last month, was virtually ignored,” said Marcel Murgoci, Trading Director of the Estinvest Focsani brokerage firm.
The U.S. Consumer Confidence Index rose Tuesday to the highest level in the past six months, above initial expectations. Moreover, American economists said that the recession in the United States could end in the third quarter of this year, according to a survey quoted by the Bloomberg news agency.
