“Stock exchanges increased considerably following the decision by the FED (Ed. n.: U.S. Federal Reserve) to cut the key rate. As soon as the European Central Bank (BCE) announced that it did not intend to cut the interest rates, like the FED did, stock exchanges began dropping. Trading is based on statements alone,” said Deputy General Manager of brokerage company IFB Finwest, Octavian Molnar.
The BET index (of the ten most liquid companies on the stock exchange) registered a 1.84 percent correction, while the BET-C (reflecting the evolution of the whole of Bucharest’s Stock Exchange) was subject to a 1.17 percent correction. The index of financial investment companies (SIF) lost 3.24 percent.
