Calsonic invests €40 mln to expand its plant in Ploiesti

“They have already completed the construction of the first module of the factory, which became operational in October last year. To date, the investment amounts to €30 million, and by the end of this year, when the second of four modules included in the project is completed, this will reach €70 million,” added Enciu.

Calsonic Kansei Romania increased its share capital by €6 mln up to €22 mln at the end of 2007.

The producer announced it will invest over €120 million in the coming five years in the Ploiesti industrial park, to produce for local and external markets.

The factory makes air conditioning and cooling systems for clients such as Nissan, Renault, Audi, BMW and Honda. The project will lead to the creation of 1,000 jobs.

INA Schaeffler, Hutchinson, Trelleborg Automotive, Brose and Honeywell are among companies with production units in Romania.
