Carabulea plans to profit from Romanian workers abroad by offering fund transfers

The new business, which will involve an investment in excess of €5 million, is complementary to the range of services developed by Carabulea in recent years for Romanian workers abroad, from transportation to insurance. The businessman declared for Business Standard that he made this decision due to the large number of Romanians working in Italy, Spain, France and Germany, who transfer money back to the country. According to Carabulea, the company, to be called Meridiana, will have 150 units in Romania and Europe. “Each year, Romanians send billions of euro back to the country, and it is for this reason that I have decided that it is opportune to invest in such a business,” added Carabulea. The Sibiu-based businessman is also shareholder of a variety of companies involved in transportation, real estate and banking. He recently announced he will establish his own low-cost airline, as he feels that the airline industry will attract clients who now travel by bus for international flights.
