The current average value of an online purchase is €92, compared to €80 in 2007, according to ePayment statistics. 

“The market has been growing rapidly since 2006. Last year, market growth was 3.5 times higher than in 2006. This trend will continue in 2008, so we estimate €70 million and some 800,000 transactions by the end of the year,” according to Gecad ePayment General Manager, Carmen Sebe. She also expects the ratio of online payments to increase to 20 percent this year. 

The ratio of online payments is still low in Romania because online stores provide alternative methods, such as COD and bank transfer, according to Marius Ghenea, General Manager of Fit Distribution IT products distributor. Fit Distribution has two online stores, PCFun and ElectroFun.
