Cargus intends to acquire a small courier, with net sales amounting to €1 million. “We are still in the process of negotiating, which means we will sign the contract in the near future,” Augustin Plesea, President of Cargus, told Business Standard.
According to sources on the market, targeted companies may be Alo Curier and Fastius, the former for its brand and the second because it is rather well-known in Bucharest. Daniel Nicolae, Sales Manager of Alo Curier, and Ciprian Pulpa, Executive Manager of Fastius Curier have denied that they have been involved in talks for a possible takeover. Nicolae said the management is not considering the sale of the company, although two months ago it changed its development strategy by giving up national-level consignments.
The company, which forecasts a 40 percent increase in revenue in 2007 from the level registered in 2006, will invest approximately €3 million in restructuring and expansion.
“We have invested €1.5 million so far in our network, and will invest a further €1.5 million in expansion, modernization, and the auto park by the end of this year,” Plesea added. The Cargus auto park will increase by 200 leased cars, raising the number to 1,500 cars.
