Carpatica bank posts €187,000 in earnings due to decline in lending

In 2007, the lender's earnings amounted to €1.95 million. "2008 was a difficult year for everybody. No one has foreseen the crisis degree, some [lenders] problems regarding the loan and sources balance, the aberrant deposit levels adopted by some competitors," the bank's General Manager, Nicolaie Hoanta, said.  The lending rate declined last year, as the loan balance only rose 4 percent, while assets stagnated at €0.53 bln.
