Representatives of the state-owned company estimate earnings below RON 30 mln (€7.5 mln) in 2009.
A rise in the price of electricity on the commodities exchange has helped the energy provider to register an increase of 17.8 percent in turnover in 2008, to RON 956 mln (€259.6 mln).
Company officials indicated that the firm budgeted a turnover worth RON 1.05 billion (€262.5 mln) for 2009, up some 10 percent, and a gross profit of RON 30 mln, 40 percent lower year-on-year.
CE Turceni, the largest state-owned thermal electrical plant, forecasts a cut in its 2009 profit. The company posted some RON 124 mln (€33.7 mln) in gross profit in 2008, up by an annual 27 percent. The producer’s turnover rose by an annual 18 percent last year, to RON 1.22 bln (€331.5 mln).
