“In 2008, we are expecting EBITDA [Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization] to be the same as that in 2007,” according to a statement for Business Standard by CEZ Romania’s CFO, Leon Vrska.
The company reported profit before taxes in 2006 of €68.8 mln, 2.5 times higher year-on-year. According to a release by the company, investments last year in the distribution network administered by CEZ in Romania amounted to some €61 mln, comparable year-on-year.
CEZ took over the control some three years ago of the former energy distribution and supply branch of Electrica Oltenia, which serves some 1.3 million clients in Arges, Dolj, Gorj, Olt, Mehedinti, Teleorman and Valcea Counties. It announced its intention to invest in energy production in Romania and to have installed capacity of 1,000 MW in the next few years, projects for which it will allocate €2 billion.
