The company presented in Paris the first model of this class, DS3, which will compete against Mini Cooper and Alfa Romeo Mito.
“Citroen changed its brand identity in terms of logo, the design of showrooms, and the internet sites, which will have unitary graphics. We did this because we changed nothing in these areas in the past 75 years. I think this is a good time for these changes, despite the economic crisis,” said the Commercial Manager of Citroen’s European division, Frederic Banzet.
Citroen dealers in Romania will have to invest an average €150,000 by 2013 to adjust their showroom design to the producer’s new brand identity. Citroen targets a three percentage point rise in market share in Romania, to five percent in the near future, compared to its average 6.5 percent market share in European countries.
Banzet said that the company is undergoing a process of getting to know the Romanian market and adjusting to the clients. The company’s sales on the local market fell by one fifth in 2008, to 3,948 cars.
