“To date, most opinions related to the real estate market in Romania were based on rumors or personal opinions. Through this index, we intend to provide those interested in this dynamic market an objective tool to analyze the evolution of prices and trends,” Colliers Residential Department Manager, Ilinca Paun, told Business Standard.
The Bucharest Real Estate Index (BREI) will be based on eight secondary indexes, monitoring prices in Bucharest’s six sectors, for both old apartments and those in new residential buildings.
Colliers competitors welcomed the index, but expressed doubts about the objectivity of calculations.
“This index must be transparent and use real trading data. It is difficult to centralize all deals concluded on the market and a real index cannot be obtained,” a DTZ Echinox official, Daniel Mitarcu, told Business Standard. “The market is much too speculative for an objective index,” a Regatta official, Sorin Lacusta, told Business Standard.
