The Bulgarian market was worth some €250 million in 2007, 35 percent higher year-on-year.
This is the first step by the company to develop its operations in the Balkans. Bigger Group plans to further expand to Serbia, Montenegro, and Albania, according to the company’s Public Relations Assistant, Ioana Cabuz. She added that this is the first Romanian agency to open a subsidiary abroad.
Bigger Group’s General Manager, Marcel Straut, said the decision to enter the Bulgarian market was made due to the expansion of several Romanian companies on markets in the region. Many of the group’s clients have developed business in Bulgaria. Furthermore, several Bulgarian companies, especially in the pharmaceutical and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors have become strong enough to compete with multinationals.
“In this framework, both Romanian companies with business in Bulgaria and Bulgarian companies with business in the region need integrated communication services, specific to this Balkan area,” Straut added.
Bigger Group posted €14.8 million in turnover in 2007, more than 160 percent higher year-on-year, and significantly above the €11.7 estimate forecast by the agency early last year. The company’s main competitors on the Romanian market are local company The Group and several international groups, such as Saatchi&Saatchi and Ogilvy.
