Construction boom leads Wienerberger to budget turnover worth €60 mln

The business of Austrian group Wienerberger in Romania rose 30 percent last year, up to €60 million, due to the growth of the residential sector and the starting of its production in a new factory, the company announced.

Wienerberger is the world’s largest producer of bricks.

Sales by the local subsidiary for residential complexes made up 90 percent of Wienerberger-Sisteme de Cazamizi’s turnover.

Last year, the company began producing bricks at a new €20 mln factory in Cluj County. This is Wienerberger’s third production unit in Romania. The company entered the local market in 1998.
In 2006, Wienerberger posted €46.4 worth of business in Romania and €6.7 million in profit.
