Copos owns the Crowne Plaza and Hilton hotels in Bucharest.
“January, February, and March were very bad months. Ana Imep exports 97 percent of its production and it was most affected. Hotels fell 30 percent in the first three months. By year-end, the hotel business will slide 30 percent compared to the budget forecast at the end of last year,” said Copos.
For Ana Imep, Copos is expecting a 25 percent decline in business, to €30 mln, from €42 mln posted in 2008, due to a drop in demand in the European Union. The company underwent a restructuring program following which 300 of the total 1,000 employees have been laid off.
