CRH to invest €100 mln in Romania

The company already invested €85 million in Romania, through the acquisition of Elpreco Craiova, one of the top breezeblocks producers in Romania, and to build a factory in the town of Brazi, north of Bucharest.

“We purchased a plot large enough to allow development and where we plan to build a further eight to ten factories, depending on the demand on the market,” according to Steven Houbracken, the General Manager of Ergon Romania and Poland, a company part of CRH group.

He added CRH targets the leading position on all markets where it has operations and Romania is no exception.

Currently, the local constructions sector has the highest growth in the entire European Union, some 30 percent per year, supported by residential and commercial projects.

In recent years, the main local construction materials producers were taken over by investment funds, attracted by stable profit margins, and strategic investors, who seek development.
