Cris-Tim’s team could split

These sources indicated that Cris-Tim might be affected by a possible divorce of Radu and Cristina Timis, the group’s majority shareholders. “There has been a rumour for several months that the two want to divorce. This has not happened yet due to the company’s assets and negotiations with various companies interested in the Cris-Tim business,” sources added.

In the event of a divorce, Cristina Timis could obtain the processing division and Radu Timis construction-related activities, said market sources.

There is also a rumor that Cris-Tim’s owners might sell a part of the company’s assets to sustain development plans for the coming years. Radu Timis has said that the company is to be divided into five business lines, to make it easier to manage. Sources say that the division is meant to split activities and make company assets easier to sell.

Cristina and Radu Timis’s business, started in 1992, currently controls the domestic cold meats market, with a 17 percent market share. The Cris-Tim group registered total business of some €180 million in 2006. The group includes the Recunostinta and Cristim 2 Prod Com processing companies, the Cristim Impex catering and store divisions, the Eco-ferm farms, and the Sensconstruct real estate and construction company.

The company’s market value exceeds €140 mln, according to sources. Cris-Tim posted consolidated net sales of €112 in 2006, expected to increase by one fifth in 2007.

The value of the local cold meats market amounts to €1 billion (delivery prices) and production totals some 230,000 tons. Cris-Tim’s main competitors are Aldis Calarasi, Caroli, Campofrio, and Angst.
