Crisis to cut 15% of cabling market in 2009

“The drop in investments in the construction sector dragged down demand for cables, and the trend is likely to continue next year. The situation is not only visible on the Romanian market, as demand for exports halved in the past six months,” Muthi said.

He added that the crisis is still at an early stage and that the impact will be more sharply felt early next year. However, he indicated that local cable producers will not be significantly impacted, because they generally have long-term contracts.
