“The net profit will also stagnate, as expenses have increased and will continue to soar,” Dan Petrescu, the company’s owner, told Business Standard, adding that salaries will be subject to a similar trend.
“We have not planned investments for 2009. Interest rates will surge and we have to pay attention to expenses. These can be reduced, albeit up to a point, because a car consumes a certain amount of gas,” Petrescu said.
The company computed its 2009 budget based on a RON 3.8/€1 exchange rate.
The transporter’s owner said that economic changes will drive those working on the black market out of business. “Probably only serious companies will remain on the market. The effects of the crisis will become visible within at least two years,” he added.
