“The ARO factory is relatively close to Dacia’s industrial platform and to car parts producers in Transylvania, many of which work for Mercedes. A further advantage is that the factory is located on a large and compact piece of land, but the disadvantage is that the space is occupied by buildings that will be hard to integrate into a modern production facility,” the sources added.
Among companies that supply car parts for Daimler are Marquardt Schaltsysteme, which produces electrical and electro-mechanical systems in Sibiu, and Benteler, producer of exhaust systems and engine parts in Slatina.
Constantin Stroe, Vice President of Automobile Dacia, said that the ARO factory is attractive to auto industry investors.
Sergiu Filip, General Manager of Landmark Management, which administers the Campulung Industrial Park, site of the former ARO platform, said that Stroe visited the factory last week. Lear Corporation Romania is already working in ARO factory, producing car parts for Renault.
