Danciu, Omilos: Retailers should bring money from home if they want to do business

“Retailers should make efforts, because all they do is complain. Half of the retailers present in commercial centers in the country have been on the market for less than three years, and they have been making loads of money until now. Now they must become aware that they will be making less, and if they want to do business they will have to come with money from home,” said Danciu. He added that sales services offered by some retailers leave a lot to be desired, and that dropping rents is not a solution, because tenants with financial problems will continue to have the same problems, even if rents were to drop to zero.

“The balance between tenants and owners of commercial centers is changing in this period, because the traffic of clients in the country has dropped dramatically, to some 50 percent. In Bucharest, where the purchasing power is greater, it has dropped by 10-20 percent. When traffic drops, expectations of owners must also drop, because when they rented the space, they demanded rents guaranteeing a certain traffic. Owners must be wise in these market conditions, open to negotiations with tenants, and offer much better conditions. Otherwise, we all stand to lose,” according to a declaration for Business Standard by Dragos Simion, President of Flamingo International.

The owner of the Era commercial parks in Iasi and Oradea added that Omilos is focused on increasing the level of attractiveness of the parks, so that at some time these can be sold at an acceptable price.
