Dell Romania estimates 50% growth in 2008
“We hope to post significant growth on all market segments we are operating on, meaning notebooks, desktops, storage and servers,” Guran told Business Standard exclusively.

Guran recently became Dell’s Country Manager for Romania and Bulgaria. He replaced Dragos Mateescu, who became Regional Business Development Manager for the Key Emerging Markets (KEM) division in Dell EM-EMEA (emerging markets - Europe, Middle East and Africa).

The management change was made public first by Business Standard, on Friday, and Dell Romania representatives later confirmed the information.

With 84,000 units sold in 2007, Dell’s local subsidiary registered 107 percent annual growth. Notebooks were bestsellers, with 54,831 units, and 165 percent annual growth.

Dell’s main competitors in Romania are Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Hewlett Packard, Acer, Asus and Lenovo.

The main players expect the notebook market to double this year, to 500,000 units sold and €300 million in value. The total PC market is expected to grow 25 percent year-on-year, up to 800,000 units.
