“Turnover is set in RON, but drops when converted to euro. The largest portion of exploitation costs is expressed in local currency,” said Vice General Manager of Apa Nova, Epsica Chiru. He added the sold water volumes were equal to those in 2007. Water price will remain stabile this year, if inflations will not exceed 5 percent.
Chiru said the company’s objective is to make the investment plan (some €26 mln). Apa Nova estimates turnover of €120 mln this year. The company is controlled by Veolia Environnement and is one of the most profitable businesses in Romania.
Currently, over 30 percent of Romania’s population is not connected to water and sewerage networks. Romania ranks second in the European Union in terms of investment in modernizing the water network.
