“I wish to draw attention to Germany’s support for the Nabucco project, which we consider essential for Europe’s energy security, and which is a priority for Romania,” said Diaconescu at the end of a meeting in Germany, according to a Ministry of External Affairs press release.
At the conclusion on Sunday of the European Summit dedicated to the crisis, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said that the European Nabucco pipeline must not be subsidized with public funds, after Brussels recently proposed the allocation of €3.5 billion in European funds for key energy projects, such as the Nabucco pipeline, to avoid a repetition of the recent Russian-Ukrainian gas crisis.
