Ruxandra Stoian, Head of HR Consultancy Services of the PricewaterhouseCoopers Romania (PwC) advisory company, said that only employees with outstanding results will benefit from variable payments, albeit at a lower level than last year.
According to a study carried out by PwC at the beginning of this year, over 40 percent of local companies cut salary budgets in 2008.
“Cutting and reanalyzing benefits is something that has already been talked about a lot, but considering that the benefit package makes up some 6-8 percent of the total salary package, and its value is greater for management positions, the reductions which can be obtained are not essential,” Stoian added.
