This action is meant to increase the enterprise’s efficiency, said the firm’s General Manager, Frank Hajdinjak. The first joint gas and electricity bills could be issued as of 2010.
Presently, E.ON Gaz Distributie and E.ON Moldova Distributie manage the distribution activity, while E.ON Gaz Romania and E.ON Moldova Furnizare administer the sales activity.
E.ON Gaz posted losses worth RON 60 million (€16 mln) in 2008, as the price of gas imported from Russia has been only partly covered by the company’s tariffs. The enterprise requested that authorities raise the price of natural gas for consumers as of 1 April. Hajdinjak added that the drop in the price of imported natural gas, which follows the quotation of oil, is canceled by the sharp appreciation of the dollar against the leu. The company will also charge higher electricity tariffs as of 1 July.
