E.ON to invest €170 mln in wind energy parks
At a cost of €1.5 million per MW, the investment could be worth €170 million. Company officials were not available for comment.

According to market sources, E.ON has several ongoing projects to build wind energy parks in eastern Romania, with a total installed capacity of 150-200 MW. Investments in these projects could amount to €225-€300 million. The location of the projects has already been identified, but several tests are under way, including the establishment of wind speed.

The group is already negotiating the acquisition of wind turbines for energy parks with some of the world’s largest suppliers in the field. It has established a company, E.ON Regenerabile Romania Iasi, to handle renewable energy production. E.ON had submitted a bid to acquire projects totaling 600 MW owned by Continental Wind Partners (CWP) investment fund in the southeastern Dobrogea region, but these were purchased by the Czech CEZ group.

Recently, E.ON announced plans to get involved in wind projects in Moldavia. According to information on the market, the group intends to develop projects totaling hundreds of MW on the local wind energy segment.
