“Many airlines are reducing their transport capacities. Airports will have to work harder to attract airlines, and these will have to do the same to attract clients,” Peter Voets, the operator’s Marketing Manager for Switzerland, Austria & Eastern Europe, told Business Standard.
Voets said that the Romanian air market continues to be attractive, as business and friend visitation flights make up a large portion of the traffic. The company official added that he expects a rise in the number of transported passengers from the 44 million registered in 2008 internationally.
Regarding the measures that a low-cost airline should take to cut costs, the company’s Marketing Manager added that companies should invest more in new aircraft and modern technology. “New airplanes use less kerosene, are safer, and, are preferred by clients, most of the time. This means that more clients are using the services of that airline, which makes a profit, subsequently invested,” Voets said.
easyJet’s competitors locally are Blue Air, Wizz Air, MyAir, SkyEurope, and Germanwings.
