The company hopes that the furniture market will rebound due to government measures. “The government has announced plans to support public investment. This will also stimulate the furniture market. If these investments have an impact on the real estate segment, this will be good for our industry, because they are directly connected,” Egger’s Radauti factory Sales Manager, Mihai Sandru, told Business Standard.
He added that a major investment, such as the one made by Egger, costs will be recovered gradually over some 10 years. In 2009, the company is to invest a further €53 million in a biomass power plant and an adhesives factory, where some 50 jobs will be created. “Our current investment plans have no impact on the market share, but will help us improve production, lower costs, and create an integrated production unit, in accordance with the company’s policy,” he said,
According to Sandru, Egger will continue investments in ecological production and the environment.
Main players on the local wood processing market are Egger, Holzindustrie Schweighofer, and Kronospan.
