Enel presently covers about one third of the Romanian energy distribution market. The company’s energy sales in Romania totaled 9.9 TWh last year, 16.5 percent of the total national consumption. The group estimates that Romania will have the highest annual growth rate of electricity demand by 2013, of 1.3 percent, compared to the Slovakian and Bulgarian markets, on which it is currently operating.

The Italian group estimates it will have 3,300 eligible clients in 2010, and their number will increase to 19,000 in 2013.

“We will continue to invest in Romania to meet demand, and expect very good rates of return from these investments,” said the Chairman of the Italian group, Fulvio Conti.
