Energy acquisition budgets are meant for wind projects

Filip says these investors expected to reach a certain critical mass during the current government’s term, but they were not allowed to, so they focused on private projects. Filip also said there are several wind energy projects for sale on the market. “There are maybe 20-25 very interesting wind projects. Some have small capacities, others are between 50-60 MW and others, perhaps the most interesting for large investors, can reach 150 MW,” Filip added.

According to market data, several large investors, including European energy giants, are still looking for opportunities to acquire wind projects.

Czech group CEZ will develop the largest wind park on land in Europe by 2010, in Dobrogea, south-eastern Romania. The Czech company bough two wind projects in the region from Continental Wind Partners investment fund and will invest €1.1 billion. CEZ Romania’s Development Manager, Doru Voicu, said many developers are interested in the project.

Voicu addec CEZ will be more selective in choosing new projects. CEZ only has Ggeenfield projects on the wind energy segment and expects to finalize several projects in partnership with state-owned companies on thermal energy segment.
