Some 2,500 employees, working for the local subsidiaries of international energy giant Enel, electricity distributors Enel Electrica Banat and Enel Distributie Dobrogea, went on a two-hour warning strike on Monday, demanding better wages, NewsIn agency reported.
The strike comes one day after negotiations on wage rises between the Univers National Federation of Electricity Unions and local electricity companies failed.
Enel offered its employees a wage increase to cover inflation, but their offer was rejected, according to a company press release.
Enel “is concerned about the temporary inability to find a mutual agreement, in spite of talks and efforts during two [recent] rounds of negotiations and in the past two years,” the release writes. Other companies, part of the Association of Energy Utility Companies (ACUE), participated in these negotiations. (NewsIn)
