Energy Holding and Enel are top electricity traders in 2007

Both companies secured 10 percent of the market share on the trading market in 2007.

A spectacular increase was registered by Romania’s largest electricity consumer, aluminum producer Alro Slatina, which is also operating on the trading market. Alro Slatina increased its market share 45 times year-on-year, up to 9 percent, from 0.2 percent in 2006. This growth was due to a trading license secured by Alro, allowing it to negotiate directly with producers, instead of working through other traders, as before, according to analyst Jean Constantinescu for Business Standard.

Another trader with a 9 percent market share was Electrica Muntenia Sud, which is soon to be taken over by Enel.
