Beer sales will increase 16 percent, to 500,000-600,000 hectoliters, which would represent a €5-6 million plus. Beer producers expect sales to increase by some 25-30 percent in restaurants, and by 30 percent in retail chains.
JW Marriott PR Manager Dina Litzica says the rise in turnover during the championship will not be significant. Paralela 45 travel agency General Manager, Alin Burcea, said only 150 packages have been sold for Euro 2008. “If we had had tickets to the games, we would have sold 10,000 packages,” Burcea said. The General Manager of J’Info Tours, Aurel Pavel, estimates that 10,000 Romanians will attend the national team’s games at Euro 2008.
Atlassib transport company estimates that the number of passengers will increase 50 percent on external routes.
Betting parlors expect turnover of some €15 million, 30 percent higher than usual during the year.
Main retailers had announced promotions during this time to avoid a drop in sales. Flamingo International IT&C, electronics and household appliance retailer has invested €1.2 mln to promote Euro 2008.
Most advertising market specialists estimate an increase of some 10-15 percent in investments.
The broadcasting rights for Euro 2008 were sold to the national TVR TV station for an estimated €30 mln. Most media groups have prepared special editions, which will cost between €15,000-€300,000.
Romania received 18,706 tickets for the first portion of the championship, of which only 55 percent were available for sale to the public, with the official delegation assigned 30 percent, and partners 15 percent of the remaining tickets.
Romanian citizens who want to attend the games of the national Romanian team must prove they have a minimum €100 a day.
