Most of the money came from over 250,000 foreign tourists who visited the city from January-October 2007.
According to the County Tourism Association (AJT), a foreign tourist spends an average of €130 a day for accommodation and two meals. “Prices this year for accommodation were higher than usual, between €40-200/night, depending on the number of stars of the establishment. We calculated that tourists spent €80-90 for accommodation alone, to which is added a further €40 for two meals and a variety of purchases,” said AJT’s Executive Director, Csaba Gyarmati.
According to hotel owners, each foreign tourist spends an average of five days in Sibiu. The remaining revenue came from Romanian tourists, who stayed an average of two days, opted for cheaper accommodation, some in private homes, and spend about €50/day. (NewsIn)
