European funds, the hope of the IT sector, only 10% of the market

Almost €100 mln is added to the above-mentioned amount, for projects previously selected and which are to be developed, but the total amount makes up less than one tenth of the value of the IT market, estimated by the International Data Corporation market research company at €1.5 billion in 2009.

“The government can contribute to surpassing the crisis, but, in lack of public investments, it would be a good thing if at least the projects financed with European funds are initiated. In the first quarter, there were also projects reported from 2008, but if things go on like this, the second half of this year will have a sharper decline,” said the Managing Director of S&T, the largest IT service supplier on the market, Bogdan Cocora.

Officials of the TotalSoft producer are more optimistic and forecast a drop of a mere five percent in H2. “Things will be better, because projects with structural funds began to be approved and because as of this fall I estimate that companies will continue to develop projects, considering that financing will be granted, unlike the situation in the spring, when the market was blocked,” TotalSoft’s Strategy and Marketing Manager, Bogdan Musat, said.
