Exclusive: Adrian Sârbu buys €4.2 mln penthouse

Sârbu is the Romanian with the highest position in an international company. This is the largest deal on the local real estate market in 2009, after Business Standard announced another record-transaction two weeks ago: Ariadna Avram, founder of the Top Diagnostics medical equipment distributor, purchased the former Malaysian embassy headquarters, a villa at Gheorghe Cantacuzino Square, for €3.5 mln. Sârbu’s reasons for acquiring a penthouse in Romania remains unknown. CME’s CEO will effectively take over the luxury apartment next spring, once the works still ongoing in the residential complex are finalized.

According to Business Standard’s sources, Sârbu will invest a further €1.2 mln in renovating the penthouse. At present, all penthouse and duplex apartments in the “La Stejari” complex are acquired or reserved, officials of Ţiriac Imobiliare said. The residential complex is located in middle of the Băneasa forest (just outside Bucharest) and includes 19 buildings, with a total of 535 apartments. The complex also has two swimming pools, three outdoor and two indoor tennis courts, four underground bowling tracks, a skating ring, and a beauty salon&spa.
