EximBank expects €20 million worth of profit in 2008

The bank’s market share in terms of assets was 1.1 percent at the end of 2007 and the financing balance amounted to some €135 million after the first eight months of 2008. “EximBank revenues will increase by 50-60 percent compared to the end of 2007 and we hope net profit to rise by 30 percent,” said Vice President Tudor Gabriel Bohalteanu.

EximBank shareholders decided to use last year’s profit to increase share capital, award dividends and cover losses from accounting errors.

Of the total financing, 87 percent went to small and medium sized companies, 11 percent to exporters and the remainder two percent to local public authorities. EximBank also launched an insurance for exporters, granting them damages in case the national currency apreciation compared to euro.

EximBank’s assets were worth 740 million at the end of 2007. The bank is controlled by the state, through the State Assets Recovery Agency (AVAS), with 95.37 percent of capital .
