In the second quarter alone, the value of FDI amounted to €3.16 billion, exceeded only in Q4 2006 in a ranking of quarterly FDI.
This value makes up 61 percent of the payment balance deficit, according to data published by Romania’s National Bank (BNR) yesterday.
In the first half of 2007, FDI amounted to €2.96 billion, or 38 percent of the current account deficit.
Loans from mother companies made by Romanian subsidiaries dropped compared to H1 2007, when these made up €48 percent of total FDI.
