Few to be exempted from paying the lump-sum tax in May

According to government sources, those who applied for suspension or cessation prior to 1 May, but did not receive approval from the judge by the time the ordinance went into effect, are obliged to pay the tax for the full month of May. Officially, the Ministry of Finance informed Business Standard that the application date will be considered, and that those who apply after 1 May will pay the lump-sum tax for the number of days beyond that date until approval is received.

Last week, thousands of tax payers around the country stormed the ONRC branches to register applications for their activities to be suspended or declared in cessation, and the delegate judges at these offices are overwhelmed. If, theoretically, a suspension takes seven working days to go into effect, cessation of business activities takes up to two months.
