First projects of regional development plan to be submitted starting October 15

Romania has tabled five possible sectors to receive funding under the European Commission’s regional development program and the government expects the Commission’s approval.

Farms, processing units, rural infrastructure, and rural tourism are among the sectors Romania has proposed for funding, according to officials in the agriculture ministry who are close to the situation.

These, plus other agricultural sectors, are included in the rural development program which the ministry has recently wrapped up and sent to the European Commission headquarters.

The program includes strategies and policies aiming at rural development for the next six years and is also an instrument to draw European funds of more than 8 billion euros.
