“We think that the Romanian tourism market has great potential. We expect the market’s penetration rate for tourists using charter flights to increase from 1 percent in 2007 to 3 percent in a few years,” said Rytis Sumarakis, Novatours General Manager.
He added that the company is forecasting a doubling of the number of tourists and turnover in Romania for 2009.
“We are also considering offering Romania as a tourist destination for Baltic countries, but are waiting for prices to become more stable at the Romanian seaside. While in other countries accommodation prices increase by up to 5 percent every year, the trend in Romania is a rise of 20 percent,” said Raimondas Useckas, Executive Manager at Fly Nova.
“We are open to possible mergers and acquisition on the Central and Eastern European market and in Romania. We are always aiming to become top or second player on the market,” said Sumarakis.
