Fondul Proprietatea net profit increased fourfold in 2007

The fund could distribute dividends worth RON 90 mln (€24.58 mln), 2.5 times higher than in 2006. By the end of 2007, income from interest amounted to RON 30.8 mln, compared to RON 753,000 in 2006. Its assets last year were worth RON 14.4 billion, 13.57 percent lower year-on-year, due to a 19 percent drop in the value of real estate shares, from RON 16.3 bln to RON 13.2 bln.

Fondul Proprietatea was established to compensate persons whose property was unjustly seized by the communist regime.
