Romanian businessman Dinu Patriciu has been classified 462nd among Forbes’ richest people in the world, with an estimated fortune of €2.5 billion, according to the magazine’s classification. One other Romanian, 68-year-old Ion Tiriac, is part of the Forbes classification, with an estimated fortune worth €1.2 billion, putting him in 962nd place. According to Forbes magazine, Patriciu, aged 57, owes his fortune to investments in the Rompetrol oil company, of which he sold 75 percent in 2007 to state-owned Kazakh KazMunaiGas oil group.
